SBS Presents: Memphis International Blues Challenge (Band) Fundraiser double bill! Matt Ross & the Mavericks and Jack & the Axes plus special guests.

Join us for a special night to help Matt Ross and the Mavericks, the winners of the Sydney Blues Challenge 2024! They've earned the top spot and will be heading to Memphis to represent us at the International Blues Challenge.

While the SBS prize money gives them a great start, they still need additional funds to cover other costs in the lead up to and whilst they are in Memphis and competing on the world stage. It all adds up for a band and that's where you come in!

Come enjoy some top-tier blues and help these talented musicians make their Memphis dream a reality. Every ticket will help them bring their unique sound to the international stage.

**Matt Ross &the Mavericks**

Matt has been a pro guitar player and singer in the Australian roots and blues scene for over 35 years. His music has settled into a combo of trad blues, cool country, southern soul & gospel with a touch of 60’s rock. He is joined by the Mavericks, George Rigatos on bass, also a 35-year veteran of the Australian roots and blues scene and a well-known, loved and award-winning guitar player. In this combo he brings his bass playing skill set and locks in superbly with Ed Rodriguez, an award-winning virtuoso jazz and blues drummer who brings great flare and unpredictability to the Mavericks engine room. Matt Ross and the mavericks are a power trio, with a difference. Bringing the maverick factor with a rep of unique originals, and timeless blues and roots classics that are not to be missed.

**Jack and the Axes**

Jack and the Axes are an electrifying original blues band out of Newcastle. Recently performing as finalists in the Sydney Blues Challenge, they bring their years of industry experience to the stage with a powerful and provocative performance. With a large collection of original songs influenced by classic blues artists, lead singer Anyerin Drury delivers gutsy vocals, emotional guitar lines, and killer harp solos, all backed by a solid yet spicy rhythm section from bassist Danny McKibben and drummer Aiden Smith. Their catchy tunes and dynamic expression will leave you wanting more of the blues.
